OH...look at that face! I just want to give her smoochies all over her bill & cheeks & forehead. LOL
Is she a Pekin?
yes, she is. She is such a sweet girl but oh my that little sweetie can bite when I try to take her non fertile eggs! I have to wear gloves or she breaks the skin! She just wants to be a momma!
She was in the pool with my drake, Squacky, yesterday and he was feeling frisky.
Squacky, Flower, Saffron, and Charlie the honorary duck. She is an Australorp that was alone in the brooder with Squacky and Flower and they all think she's a duck, too!
Thanks.yes, she is. She is such a sweet girl but oh my that little sweetie can bite when I try to take her non fertile eggs! I have to wear gloves or she breaks the skin! She just wants to be a momma!

What a precious family you have! I'm impressed with Saffron. Pekins generally aren't the motherly type.
Oh wow I didn't know that! She has been psycho broody (is it called broody with ducks?) and I can't make her stop! I guess I should consider myself lucky instead of grumbling about it! Lol
Thanks for responding and offering to help. I read in some other posts about similar issues and saw that Niacin was a common treatment so I went to my feed store today and the man didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about. The brand of food they eat is Masterfeed, and I have never added anything to it. I let the ducks roam around sometimes so they eat grass and leaves regularly. I also give them peas in their pool sometimes. There were a couple of ducks that had trouble walking since birth but nothing serious and since this is my first time raising ducks I don't know what is normal and what is not. I just got back from a 2 week holiday and a neighbour was looking after the ducks. I knew this one was walking different before I left, but I seem to notice it more now. This duck also stays distant from the group, although will follow. This has gotten worse while I was on my holiday. The neighbour caring for the ducks asked if I had noticed other ducks picking on this duck before I left and I hadn't but she said she saw it lots. Sure enough today when i was out there with them, there was another duck pecking and pulling at it. As far as how the feet look, they are a little turned in, but what I notice more is that it walks upright while the other ducks tend to walk lower, if that makes any sense. I took a video but I can't find my camera cord at the moment. I will post it as soon as I find it.
