Pekin Duck Club!

I use this guide
LL
so u cut the blue ones? But can cut all the colored ones?

Yes after some advice and someone else said she has a pekin drake and Muscovy hen which do great together. I told the girl with the trio I can't do it bc I only have room for one and I understand wanting to keep them together so I think I am going to get a single Muscovy which I can clip but I'm scared to do it personally. So I'm still on the look out for a female but that is my option right now and the muscovy hens are pretty. Its which one to choose! Lol
Do you have any singles in your area available? Or is it that the trio she has the only option so far that she doesn't wanna separate?

Yikes. Wing clipping. Scary. Have no idea how. I've heard about blood feathers and not wanting to clip them or too close to them. When you do get a girl that can fly maybe you can have someone on here walk you thru it or your local farm supply store that sells burds? I have itty bitty house finches that never get outside but I do let them out of their cage and the little things fly expertly. I'd never clip their wings and even though they poop, it's nowhere the size and amount of a duck's.

I do have a fenced area that they go into when no one is home. They were out while my son (20yrs) was home and outside doing yard work. He just couldn't get to them before the dog. I totally feel horrible for him because Ezmarelda died in his arms.

I completely agree with what your saying the neighbor needs to be responsible for what their dog does also. And it's up to us to make sure our animals no matter what they are are protected too, When I cannot be home my animals are behind fencing and yes we spent a small fortune putting up no climb horse fence the last time around because bears were tearing down our welded wire fence. But when I say fencing it can be dog kennel to plastic poultry fencing sometimes anything like that will deter an attack, doesn't have to be expensive  but something needs to be there for their protection. It's just too easy for something to happen so fast before we can even react. I'm sorry if I sounded heartless, I just know you cannot go off and leave your flock outside with no protection sooner or later something is going to happen.

I never leave them out and about without supervision, they go into their fenced in area where the sleep @ night. My 20yr son was @ home doing yard work, and wasn't able to get to them before the 150lb dog. I feel horrible for my son because Ezmarelda died in his arms while he was trying to stop the bleeding.
They were only let out when i or my son were outside with them.

No, the trio was 2 Pekins and a brown duck, she didn't know what breed. I can get a single Muscovy girl, its just the flying..lol

Defiantly do not leave them out and about without supervision

Last month my little lock was attacked by hawks, at the time I had no clue ducks were prey, however geese make great protectors for wandering ducks. My goose Vladimir was migrating from Canada, his wing got cut up and eventually had to be amputated but he protects those ducks like his own, if you do not have any wonderful geese or anything of the sort I would stick to the supervision. Hope this helps :)
