Pekin Duck Club!

We want to build a pond for our backyard ducks. Can I use a pond liner or does anyone have any suggestions for the Bottom of the pond?
Many people use pond liners. That should work fine if you're planning to build a pond deep enough for them to float and that they can't stand in. Preformed ponds also work, but they're far more expensive for what you'd need to cover a comparable area with a liner.

Is she new to laying this year? Many ducks lay soft-shelled eggs or eggs with some soft spots, and that can happen when they begin laying. It's also a common sign of lack of calcium in their diet. Are you keeping oyster shell out for them?
Yes this is the first year for all 4. Oyster shell is in their diet. The other three lay hard shell but she always lays hers in the pool.

thank you. It will be deep enough for them to swim and not stand in. They love their kiddie pool but it is now getting too small as our flock is getting bigger.

Jadecomputergirl this is the coop I ordered

Don't forget to check your township regulations before you build a pond so you can estimate your effort and cost. Many, many townships require water more than 2 feet deep to be fenced off. This is primarily to protect people who don't keep an eye on their small children so the children don't come over and fling themselves into your pond and drown.

The image of the coop didn't post, but you probably already know that.

Wow! I can't believe I've never seen any part of that one before. I could spend the next week looking over it. I might regret it, but I'm going to send Scott the link to that one.

This could perhaps help me in a different way. When he says, "Hey, look at this idea I got from that thread!" I can say, "Am I allowed to get Silkies yet?" Then when he says, "No, I don't want chickens," I can say, "Okay, let's talk about it when we can come to a compromise."
