I keep a pan of food outside or their house during the day and pick it up at night so it doesn't get soggy for water I use a kiddie pool. I also recently have been keeping a small bowl or food and water in their house. The house is actually a chicken coop so there are nestling boxes that are off the main floor. I took the walls out of the nesting boxes and put the food and water bowls in it. It's perfect height for them and its honestly not messy. The bowls are somewhat deep and being up higher they don't splash it out as much. I have a low watt heating lamp that hangs over the food and water so it doesn't freeze. That way if it gets too cold and I'm not home to break the ice for them they always have water in the house they can get to.I have two ducks. Do you have chickens too. Where do you keep your food and water? Do you heat it for the winter?

I've also seen several different ideas of how to keep water in their house without it getting messy. Just depends on how big of a house you have too. Here's a good thread with some ideas.
