thanks for getting back to me!! I moved on our lake 4 years ago. And when I got here my duck*/piggy" was here already. Someone got her as a easter present and when she got too big decided to.just leave her on the lake. Since then she has adopted me as her momma and was very friendly! She sat on my lap and swims with me and comes when I call her! This past summer someone dropped off another one and now they are together and even tho she isn't as cuddly they both come to eat. Yesturday I woke up to two more. They just showed up. I'm.sure someone on the lake thought it was cute but I'm concerned for them.this winter. You see piggy would never come on land during the winter and she will not go into any enclosed structure.are lake doesn't freeze by my house due to the stream that runs into it and she would sleep on the edge of the ice all night. I've tried everything to give her some warmth and shelter but she won't go near it. I'm concerned for the other ones now this winter and could use some advice and or confirmation that they will be fine. I've had many sleepless nights last few years worrying about her. Any advice on raising pekings and what I can do is appreciated!

You are doing fine. Everyone can see what you posted.
The new ducks will decide whether or not to get out of the cold. It does no good to worry beyond that. You are offering shelter. They will decide if they need it.
