I have a normal Pekin and a jumbo Pekin . Their names are Quack quack and Duckie. They are my first ever pet ducks. It think I made a good choice on getting them (;.

Thats not me. My duck has something wrong with its leg.

Pekins usually develop leg problems as they grow. The only thing you can do for your duckling is add a Niacin supplement to their water and hope for the best.

The gas company not gas station the meter that runs the utility gas on property. It's on private land and in a county limits not the city the rules or different . But the 3 ducks or protected by the government endanger laws. I also have 6 chickens on same list. I need to get a lock. I don't know if the same law protects their eggs. I guess I have to call the department of algrcalture .

Thank you so much for the reply! So it is normal for him to pull all of his good condition wijg feathers? I thought molting was just the downy ones.

When my ducks were 2 or 3 months old, they were looking good in their adult feathers, and then . . . . feathers everywhere! I thought, hey, you just GOT your big girl feathers, what's up?

I have a pekin duck that has a leg problem. Help!!! Hes two weeks old and hasnt been able to walk on his one leg for about 4 days. I have added poly vi sol without iron to hos water and added brewers yeast to his food thinkig it was a niacin problem. His foot started to swell so i wrapped it for 5 minutes in a towel soaked in epsom salt and water. It now looks like the knee is turning kind of purple and i cant see the veins in the webbing of his feet. Im trying everything. Please help!

Wow, that's a lot of swelling... swim therapy might be a good thing to try...

You are keeping endangered birds? Or are you keeping birds on the livestock conservancy list?

Also, what does the gas company have to do with it? Sorry, it's just not clear.

I put him in the tub and help him swim but he tips over and doesnt even try to move the leg

Could he have been stung? A small pea sized dab of benedryl may help.

They have been inside my house since i got them last week. He was walking fine for the first couple of days. I have a vet appointment monday but im on the cancellation list to try to get him in today.
