Pekin Duck Club!

@Miss Lydia

@quailkids14 I am not even sure if you'll get this because BYC is really acting up on my computer. I did see the video poor baby really struggling to walk. Are you giving warm water therapy along with brewers yeast and good feed? Warm water therapy can really help get those muscles loose and strengthen those legs. Also are you giving any type of vitamins along with the BY? What is the feed your using?

@Miss Lydia yes to all except extra vitamins. They are eating kalmbacker 20% all natural flock starter grower crumble.

My Pekin is 1.5ish YO, & she recently had an accident with the neighbors dog- long story short she is finally all the way healed..With the exception I could tell she was having some trouble walking any amount of distance...(She was bitten in the muscle of her leg.) I recently got some brewers yeast for my duckling & decided I was going to give her some as well & I could I instantly tell a difference! It was pretty amazing! Definitely get some brewers/nutritional yeast!! It works wonders!

Try to find Poultry Nutri Drench it is an awesome product and put that in their water. That along with the BY might be just the thing to get those legs going strong. Keep up with the water therapy too. How old again?

When you hold your duckling lay him on his back and gently stretch his legs out straight and look for anything different in the legs swelling redness heat or any abnormality

Has this been going on since you first got the ducklings?

They are almost 5 weeks old. And yes dopey has always kind of tripped over his own feet when he walks.

Sure sounds like a niacin def. But you know we're not vets just have to go by experience from our own or what we learn on here from others. But Pekins grow so fast they really need the extra nutrients from good feed and vitamins so hopefully the BY will kick in soon and if you can get the lil one started on some extra vits that may help too. We don't know why one duckling may need the extra help than another but it happens quite often. .
Your doing 1 Tab per cup of feed right? and Dopey does eat good?

The Pekin Pair free ranging on this beautiful day! (Of course Momma has a close eye on them!)

My lil Pekin is around 6 or 7 weeks. When he walks one foot seems a bit turned inward. They are on 18% protein chick starter with nutritional yeast supplement for extra niacin and B vits and I give peas kale and sunflower seeds as treats most everyday. They are outside now, but only the last 3 days, they forage around some and enjoyed their first watermelon pieces today...They loooved it. Anyway, back to my question,the turned in foot,any thing I can be doing to help this or is it just how he walks? This is my first and only Pekin with a flock of runners and a Rouen. I've only had Campbell's before.

If it isn't hindering his walking at all then probably just the way he walks has it been this way since he was tiny. . If you can get a video that would help. They can actually get off of chick starter and go to something like an All flock.

Some of my Muscovy females are pigeon toed.
