Pekin Duck foot injury

We have a 6 month old pekin duck that lives in our back yard with a pond. We feed it regularly but it has a foot injury and is having trouble walking. Can you help with what this injury may be and what we can do? Here is a pic

In the second picture, the ankle area appears to be quite swollen. How does the area feel, warm, cold to the touch? Could you check underneath her foot at her footpads, and look for any lesions, or scabs?

How long has she been having problems? Is she able to walk at all?

Just one scab on the side of the second picture. It has been since summer. Has been able to get around until recently. Nothing on the pads.

We're you able to feel the area, how does it feel, warm, cold?

Could you get a closer picture of the scabs? Is she eating, and drinking well? Is she able to stand, and walk at all? How are her poops looking?

The foot is very warm, she is eating and drinking well, she is not able to stand and walk without putting out her wings for stability, poops are normal.

There may have been a break, but it's hard to know without a vet looking at it, and having an X-ray done. If you compared the foot, to the other one, and it felt much warmer, that may suggest there is an infection at the joint. It may be worth starting her on an antibiotic for a while, and see if that helps. You can get Fish mox online or something such as Baytril. Links shown below :

In addition to the antimicrobial therapy, I would keep her in a soft padded area with feed and water provided, as you're doing. Letting her swim in the water to exercise her legs would be good, as would adding Epsom salts to the water every few days to help reduce some of the swelling, heat going on. If you arent already, I would start her on cattle B complex, which will help support overall leg bone structure, and growth. You can give her 1ml daily, over treats or orally with a syringe or eye dropper.

The dose for the Baytril 10%, is 0.05ml twice a day PO (orally), for no longer than five days. If the swelling is related to an infection, you should be able to see improvement in a very short period of time. Do not eat the eggs after treating this one, for at least a month. Do not administer it via water as the bottle might suggest.
