Hello everyone,
We have been battleing this issue with one of our pekin's for close to two months. She has a bunch of swelling right above her foot. We keep calling it her ankle but I am not sure if that is right or not. At first she had a little spot of bumble foot she had gotten, we performed the surgery, gave her shots of pen g, kept her by herself for awhile, then returned her to the flock. All was well, she had been limping a little bit but not hardly noticeable at all at times. She had been great for about a month. This evening we saw them when we went to give them their evening snack, and she was limping as bad as she ever has. She let me catch her and we put her in their house tonight so she can't move around a ton and will give her a chance to stay off of it and rest. Checked the bottom of her foot and there are no signs of bumble foot. Just a bunch of swelling around that joint again and her struggling to keep up and wanting to lay down. Has anyone ever encountered any type of issue like this? We just aren't sure if this is an injury that won't heal, or she injured it again, or if it is some type of infection and it needs to be treated? When she had the bumble the foot felt warm, few days after the surgery and antibiotics and warmth was gone. She has never had a loss of appetite or has never quit drinking water throughout this. She acts relatively normal other than limping, the swelling, and not being able to keep up and wanting to lay down when the flock is standing all together. I didn't get a chance to get a picture and can post one tomorrow if need be. If anyone has ran into anything like this or has any ideas we would appreciate all the feedback and help we can get!
