Pekin duck with huge sore, how to treat?

When I get one like this I very carefully pluck the feathers feathers 1/2" back from the wound edge, then clean the wound with sterile saline and chlorhexidine or betadine. Can you pluck all of the feathers, clean it really well, then take new pictures?

When plucking, be careful not to tear skin, and pluck feathers in the direction they are growing.

If you don't have saline and chlorhexidine or betadine, just use warm water and a mild soap.

Ok thank you! I'm going to get something to put on it today, I have never plucked duck feathers so this will be interesting!

Sorry I've never plucked a bird before, especially not one that's alive so I want to make sure I don't hurt him. So you pull the feather in the direction it grows, do you slowly try to pull or just pull fast and get it over with?
I pluck one feather at a time in the direction it grows. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. My eyes aren't so good these days, so I wear reading glasses when I do it to make sure I am not tearing the skin as I pluck.
