Pekin duck

It happened again,I’ve now officially lost 3 pekin ducks and a cocktail to the same thing. They were healthy this morning tonight another pekin is dead, please help!

That duck looks like it has been mauled...are you saying your birds are dying while safely in the coop?

No, our in the yard!

It has no maule marks on it, just a little missing skin on it’s beak!

You don't put them up at night in a coop ? And you find them in the morning dead? Are there any dogs around?
You won't normally find maul marks. A dog can merely shake a duck and kill it.

Were they ill prior to dying?

Yes they come up in a Avery every night

Would a dog who leaves them alone every other time occasionally kill a duck?

But make no attempt to eat it

She would kill them all if she was doing it wouldn’t she?

Dogs play with it and then when it stops moving they drop it.
I guess it depends on the dog on whether she would kill them all or just pick one to play with. Dogs should never be left unsupervised with poultry or waterfowl unless they are trained to guard the birds.
