I have the same issue with my girl, a Peking as well. She is hot natured already so only use the lamp after a bath. Constantly letting her clean her face & nares, but she goes through her panting stage anywhere from 4-10times a day, with her heart racing. I dont like leaving her because of this. I give her a bowl of cool water to sip & that seems to help, but only for so long. I've been using puppy pads & padding because everything else had some dust or they ate. I'm at a loss here. She eats & drinks fine. She has started to wall a bit less than her sister (a welsh) tho, same age but she's twice her size. We give the Niacin, vitamins, etc. Our vet suggested trying a couple days without the Niacin to see if that helps (its known in people to make them hot & flush so just trying it out). The room she's in is actually pretty cool because of this. I am at a loss, I am so in love with these 2 girls & I'm hoping we can figure it out ASAP. I'll be following this thread. I do notice tho, it's mostly the pekins. I'm thinking their body weight might contribute some. I know my girl, Mabel, doesn't run around & walk as much as she did before. We go back to our vet this week & I'll let you know what she says. Will be hoping & praying for your duckies as well.
