Poor thing!! If you have styptic powder on hand I would use that, but if not, cornstarch can work in a pinch. Just put it right where the blood is coming out and apply a little pressure, and add more until it isn’t bleeding. It only works for very small bleeds, so if it is a large hole then it may not be able to help. 🙏

The bleeding has stopped on its own now , what do I do with the rest of his yolk ?

Is there more unabsorbed yolk that isn’t visible in the photo? To me from the photo it looks like it is mostly absorbed. I would just let the chick rest, I think it will continue to absorb the little bit that is still exposed.

I have heard that you can put them in a small teacup or similar with a paper towel in it so they don’t slip and that kind of replicates the feeling of being inside their shell and they will continue to absorb the yolk. Make sure if you do that to put the cup and chick back in the incubator and make sure the cup isn’t cold before you add the duckling.

Maybe someone else will have some ideas. Glad the bleeding has stopped!

He’s now asleep still very wobbly but hopefully he will gain strength!

You can give him some raw egg yolk, just a drop on the tip of your finger and let the baby eat it off. Or some electrolyte water or sugar water. But hopefully he will be fine with just some rest.

I put him back into the incubator for the night as I don’t currently have a brooder set up, he’s been trying to stand up so he’s slowly getting stronger hopefully he should be better in the morning ☺️
When he’s in the brooder he’ll be on sugar water for a couple days !
Once again thank you all!!!❤️
