Hi! I have a 2 1/2 week old female. I live in Albuquerque, NM where temps have been in the low 100’s. I was wondering if my duckling can be kept outside during the day ( I have a Cape Cod coop) rather than the plastic bin I have her in. She’s outgrowing the bin really quickly.

Definitely build her own pen.She can stay outdoors but needs shade,a kitty pool, and somewhere to sleep, shelter from bad weather as well.

Help! I noticed when I checked on my duckling she had a reddish color on her chest. I thought she may have just been dirty but I think she may have a sore. She was excessively “ biting” it but after I cleaned her I didn’t see anything. What should I do?

It’s seems better now that she is clean and dried but I still feel like there’s some irritation

Thanks for the pic. I can’t tell very much from the pic but you may want to try just a little ACV in her bath next time. If there is something on her causing irritation, that should help kill it or clean it. Keep us posted. Also, where did you get her? Are you sure she’s Pekin? Can you post a side pic of her head? The reason I ask is because my Pekin’s chest started turning reddish. I thought she was sick - come to find out she’s a Runner - a lovely surprise!:love
