Hello all!
I have a male and female Pekin that will be laying/mating age very soon. I've heard that ducks in generally aren't the best egg sitters. Is it at all feasible to let momma duck try and tend the eggs herself, or should I just go straight to incubation? Just curious on opinions.

You may have to let her build a clutch before you know if she is willing to brood. Some have had Pekins brood and hatch others say they don’t go broody so it’s always a toss up. You’ll just have to wait and see.

Ducks are a crapshoot I've had 19 ducks and I'm going on 6 yrs and no broody yet so I incubate but I have a new generation coming up and I hope they go broody next spring...pekins are one of the hardest to get broody but it does happen I automatically incubate my Perkins because I gave them 2 yrs and they never did
