Pekin hatching problem

I just looked at the nutritional yeast that i have and it does list iron I'd say it must be in smaller quantities than the poly vi sol. On my container it lists niacin at 370% and iron at 4% so very small amount. go with the niacin tabs you just have to crush and mix in their water 125 mgs to 1 gal of water and you may have to mix it a few times a day to keep it from going to the bottom Brewers yeast is 1 Tab to 1 cup of feed.

How are they doing today if still improving maybe not give the poly and start the niacin and just watch there isn't a relapse. Read the post Amiga gave you probably some idea as to how long to give the poly vi sol. I was hoping @Lacrystol would give us her ideas since she hatches regular. Not sure if @casportpony uses poly lets see if she'll say. I really like Nutra drench because it is formulated for poultry and i have used it many times and know it is safe. it can be given straight into bill also. Goes straight into the blood stream. by passes the gut. Pics when you can.

Just joined in, Sorry, I'm so late, what's the results so far??? Polyvisol doesn't have FAST results with Ducks, it takes longer for it to actually take affect.. It's GREAT for chickens but not so much with ducks, it will do the job but you have to have more time and patiences.

@Lacrystol. Thank you for the information. I only gave the PolyViSol thru the weekend. It and SaveAChick was all I had. Did get some 250mg niacin.
Have been giving 125mg in a gal of water to all 7 ducklings. I am ordering poultry drench. Pretzel ( the problem child) is doing great. Can not believe he made it. All because of information and help from the BYC duck people.
If I need to add the B comp, I can get that. If so-how much?

Thanks

Just going to jump in here and say since he is thru the most critical part and doing so well I'd just keep on with the niacin and Nutri Drench when you get it.

@CyndiD. I am so invious, love the Welsh Harlequin and the Runners. Was going to get runners when first moved here in the woods to eat the ticks. But no one in this state has any and tried mail order eggs once ( 4 out of 18) hatched, really depressing.
No, my Pekin eggs are white. The Swedish/Pekin mix layers a barely off white egg. My Pekins started about 8-9 months. These were only the 3rd weeks eggs that I hatched.
I tried putting a trail camera in my chicken coop to see if which of my EEs had started laying. Only caught blurred pics.
Good luck with your Easter Hal. When do you need to set the eggs?

If i am hatching duck eggs, i need to set them Sat Feb 27th and if i hatch chicks i need to set them Sat March 5th.
My runners are great foragers. we had hundreds of grasshoppers the first yr we moved here, last yr we had almost none. It is so fun to watch the ducks and chickens chase the grasshoppers.
My husband bought our runners at the local feed store, where we use to live. the sales person told him they were pekin ducks...NOT!!
I am so glad I got runners. then I bought 12 ducklings from Metzer Farms last April/2015. i bought more runners, chocolate & blue's. I bought Buff's and Pekins.
I want more Pekins, but my pekin duck layed a few soft shelled eggs, and after treating her and the rest of the ducks with DE and vit D, etc. i have not found anymore soft shelled eggs. but i need to seperater her from the rest of the ducks, b/c i am not sure if she is laying again. the eggs that i think are hers have a slight green tint to them, so i think they are from my blue runners, b/c their eggs are a light green. my chocolate's eggs are darker green and smaller.
I really want to find some Saxony hatcing eggs. from a private breeder, b/c if i buy them from a hatchery i have to buy too many.
So, when i was look for heavy ducks i came across the SWH and i think they are beautiful, so i bought 8 eggs from bluefarm, they shoudl be here Wed or Thurs.... Do you still want runners? i have plenty of eggs, chocolate, and blue are still laying right now. my f/w are broody and not laying or being bred. free... just pay for shipping.
Dont be invious, your ducks are beautiful. I am so pleased your ducklings are doing well.

Such a doll. Congrats!!!

@Miss Lydia . Will do. Niacin and Nutri Drench (when I get it) Thanks
If you still have save a chick just keep using it. If you get the poultry Nutri Drench I'd use it a couple times a week if everyone is looking good. Once they are all around 2 weeks old and doing great use the vitamins only a couple times a week. They get vits in their feed just keep up with the niacin until 10 weeks old daily.

This is what I do with new ducklings chicks or goslings First week I give PND every day also helps mom get back in shape. Then I give every other day then 2X a week until I am giving only 1X a week. You get your own system started I just feel the vitamins give them a good head start.

Don't forget the pics lol

@CyndiD
Thank you so much. I simply love my duck. Ducklings are so very funny BUT, I had forgotten how messy they were. I would love some runner eggs, maybe next month if the offer holds. Just put more Pekin/Sweedish in bator. I want to be sure I can hatch duck withOUT a problem. It is too nerve wrecking to have to assist. Thank you for the offer. How do you ship the eggs? Did Patty ever email you back about her Pekins?
Would love pics of yours.
