Hey guys! I have a jumbo pekin, in a coop with 10 other females of various breeds, and she keeps having issues. Today we found our first 2 eggs (not sure who from..) and my jumbo pekin Louise was unable to walk without falling over. She keeps standing very tall and falling on her back. She has done this before and adding extra Brewers yeast usually does the trick. The problem is that today I also found multiple "hot spots" on her and she also had some black spots on her bill. I've attached pictures, wondering if anyone can give me some advice as to what I should be doing other than cleaning her spots and putting ointment on them.

Ouch those raw places look painful how old is she? Have you ever had her on Liquid B Complex? When one is having problems we have found it works better and faster than any other form of niacin. It canbefound at Walmart in the human vitamin section 3 ml per day or you can go to TSC And buy Liquid B Complex in the cattle section it will say injectable but can be given orally 1 ml a day since it more concentrated. I’d def get her in one of the other asap. Do you have Vetricyn spray for wounds and infections? That maybe soothing to her raw areas. Make sure none are open and oozing they will draw flies then you’ll be dealing with maggots. Or you could try an antiseptic spray . Do you have a drake? @onaharley. And @CayugaJana both have Pekin

I don't have any Drake's but the females have been trying to mate each other... I will try the b complex! I also give them electrolytes.

I have a pekin and have never seen this. Maybe she is getting really into wanting to hatch ducklings she is pulling her feathers out to make a nest?.... The mating is just dominance. I would put some neosporin on those wounds to keep out the infection and wrap it in vetrap to keep the bugs and other birds from getting to it. Keep her dry(maybe take her to a dry spot with a buddy so she is not lonely). Keep us updated!

I’ve never seen this in my flock. I would be concerned like you. I know ducks will eat their own feathers if they aren’t getting proper nutrition. Are they falling out? Do you see an abundance of white feathers on the ground? If not, she’s likely eating them. Anyone continually pecking her? What are you feeding them? If she’s not molting, she looks to be in poor health. But when they are molting, the feather quality is bad so it can look misleading. Any chance of lice or mites? Definitely try some vitamins. And give her some high protein cat food or mealworms. She will need the extra protein when she starts growing new feathers. With it starting to get cold outside, I’d make that priority 1. Definitely let us know how she’s doing!
