I've been thinking of getting ducks this year too, can you house chickens and ducks together in the same coop?

You can do any thing that you want to .They are you birds. BUT it is not recommended because ducks are so messy and needs lots of water to keep their nose and eyes clean. They can be pastured together but to share the water and feed, The chickens would not have clean water. Also most chickend coops have mites. Chickens dust them slef to control mites but ducks preen them self to keep the oil on their feathers.

I have 2 welsh harlequins and 1 pekin. The pekin just said laying eggs. I have them because I wanted ducks. They are females and the pekin is very loud. She is almost double the size of the welshs.

I keep mine separate only because the ducks can't make it up the ramp to chicken coop (type with the run underneath). Once in awhile a duck will get into the chicken coop though. I don't give my ducks water or food overnight and they have been fine.

I have pekins (and other breeds) get WH, such beauties, I love them. I don't even care about the eggs my flock of ducks are for eye candy only. And pets! But every year, I go for beautiful. My pekins I thought were gorgeous, and they are, but WH, are the prettiest duck I've ever seen besides my mix and my magpie with a blue bill (but no garenties you'll get a blue billed magpie, and magpies are rare to begin with)
