I have a 3 yr old Pekin male whom I noticed limping a couple days ago.....and today I decided since he was still limping to take a look, and I am certain he has bumblefoot. I brought him in and cleaned his foot in nice warm water and some peroxide, then put some bag balm on it to keep it clean. But this is the first time I have had this problem....I dont know alot about it, and I thought somewhere I read that the infection can somehow be spread to me...???? None of the vets around here do much w/poultry, they all have the belief to just kill them if there is a problem....but any advice on how to treat it would be extremely helpful....also if anyone knows if it actually can be transferred to me please let me know!!! Thank you ahead of time :)

There is an article here if you need to look the exact steps up. But the fast recap is. Need to soak the foot in warm water, take off the black scab and push out all of the "stuff" from inside the foot. Then bandage the foot up. But deffinitely do a search there are several very informative posts with pictures and all.

Today I let him soak in the warm water w/ some epsom salt and when he got out the scab was barely there.....but the rest of it would not come off, and I dind't see wher ethere would be a plug or anything or a hole. I squeezed it and its really hard. I cleaned it out w/ peroxide and then put some bag balm on it and covered it w/ padding to keep it clean/dry. But like I said, I didn't see anything like a plug or anyting come out....I am clueless.

Ok....soaked his foot again rtoday for probly 20-30 minutes or so.....I was digging w/ tweezers and pulled off a bit of a scab.....but I see nohting, it just looks like regular tissue...and it did bleed a bit.....other than the scab on the foot is there any other FOR SURE signs its bumble foot and not like a tumor or growth???

Ok.....I am having second thoughts about the bumblefoot diagnosis......as I was cleaning up the duck after his soak I noticed on his other foot he has the same type of growth.....after looking at tons of bumblefoot pictures...I dont thingk thats what this is...I think it may just be an age growth or something....The only concern I still have is that he is still limping....but its been extremely rainy here lately and its wet and muddy sometimes...so maybe he slipped on something....but its been a week or so. Any ideas what else it may be??? He used to go outside all the time, but now he just sits in the coop for the most part w/ his girlfriend...???? Here are a few pictures of his feet after we cleaned him up and his "soak." The first pictures is the foot we thought had the bumblefoot, and the other two are his left food with the same type of growth....they are not a solid lump, they are textured which makes me think they are another type of growth. Any ideas?????????????

They are flat and not "bubbled" up....are they just some sort of fatty growth or something???
