Pellets vs mash

Mine go from chick starter to layer pellets at 18-20 weeks depending on where I'm at with the bag

I mix for week or so then go over to all pellets. Never used grower even though it is available. Mine took to the pellets after a couple days of realizing that was it. I'm surprised some have had problems since chickens usually peck and eat at anything from my experience

I imagine if I let it go long enough they would have switched, but they are 13 weeks and still developing+They were all running to me every time I went near the coop..hoping I had treats.
Given the cheap cost of the feed, I'm not going to worry about a little waist. There are few things a chicken has to enjoy..why not indulge them.

I mixed Chick Starter crumble and laying pellets because our girls are now laying. The crumble was a powdery waste-type, but necessary. The pellets have been picked out of the mix I made and laying in the poop on the floor of their coop. However, since I bought a 50lb bag, they will be finishing this, but I think I will change to a different form of laying food.
