Pellets vs. Pine Shavings?

The shavings from Farmer's Feed Mill are so tightly packed that, like you said, it's like you have to take out 'bricks' and break them up, whereas the TSC shavings will pretty much pour out of the bag (in a big cloud of dust)..

And, yeah, the TSC shavings have a vague wood smell, whereas the FFM shavings have a really stout, super clean 'pine-sol' smell that lasts for a couple of days -- even with 28 4+wk old chicks in a 2'x6' brooder.

Come to think of it...I bet the TSC shavings are hardwood...
 
I have 300 ducklings coming and I need brooder ideas. what we have now is way to much work changing pine shavings every day is costing me alot of money. please help!!!
