Hi!

I have 5 hybrids and two bantams.
Currently all of them free range around our house (approx 2.5acres). They also have a 5x5m pen with a chicken house in the middle..
Now.. We have puppy (very poorly) who will be coming out of vet hospital soon. He had a very complicated bowel issue that may have been brought on by eating too much chicken poop... (Hystiocytic ulcerative colitis) and now we plan to stop them free ranging and keep them in the pen (ultimately to reduce risk of puppy getting infected again).
Do you think the pen is big enough?
Any advice welcome xxx

A general rule of thumb for confined birds is to provide a minimum of 10 square feet per bird (for large fowl) - rough conversion of 5x5m seems to be about 256 square feet/10= room for 25 birds or more than enough for your flock.
