I have a six month old Black Pen pullet who sighs a lot. She opens her mouth quite wide and makes a soft sound that sounds like a cat meowing. It's very odd. When she makes a louder sound, she shakes her whole head to the side, much like she's sneezing and it doesn't sound anything like a chicken either.
I'm a little worried that maybe she's got something stuck in her throat and that's why she's making the wheezing, sighing sounds.
In watching her though, she's eating normally, pooping normally with good consistency, walking normally, everything just fine. This may be just a funny chicken with an unusual personality.
Anyone got any experience with a chicken sounding like this?
