BYC Café

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

My haircut came out great! My hair hasn't been this long in over 3 decades so I was a little wriggly when I saw her chopping away at it. I wanted no more than 1" off the length and for her to even up my choppy, self made layers. She did a great job.

My hairdresser has been a friend of mine for at least 17 years. We have been texting about getting together with another of our mutual friends to catch up for the longest time. I proposed we go to the Endicott mansion Sip & Shop. They serve wine while you wander around the gorgeous old mansion with many vendors set up selling crafts and whatnot for the holidays. It's a date!
My local firehouse is holding a Sip & Shop next weekend. I wasn’t sure what to expect but will go to support the volunteer fire fighters and first aid squad.
Now I know what it is at least! Hope I can do my holiday gift shopping!

I decided to take the girls to the old IBM glen to hike today. We had a blast. Bella almost couldn't get up out of the gorge at one point on the trail but we found another spot and she made it.
I wish I had brought my phone to take pictures but I didn't. But we plan to go back on Monday.

Good Morning ☀️

I am still on my 1st coffee. It rains and rains cats and dogs and whatever else in between! It is so humid now so more rain.....

Yesterday I found my 100% purple Hawaiian sweet potato, except it is on the small size, nevertheless I got it. I put some in a bag for humidity so that they will sprout.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

4 broody hens, 1 sick hen, and a rejected tiny rooster. Non of the 9 big hens and the 4 bantam want to be near him. He picks food calling them to come eat, non pay any attention to him. He has no rooster tail and being so tiny also.

When I put him in the coop with the hens at night, they all turn away from him, he walks out of the coop, my heart sinks. I hug and talk to him more. I hope in time he will grow a nice rooster tail so that he might be more attractive to the hens. He is however a confident rooster, never fade from rejection, he marches on. I take him out and about more so that he sees the world. I told him he is King of this backyard!!❤️

Have a wonderful day

I got the last of the windbreak up on the run. It's only a little taller than chicken height on that side, but it's the most protected side, being in the lee of the garage.

Squeaky sat on my lap, yesterday and today. These might be the last two nice warm days for a long time. And with the wind blocked off, the run was a nice place to sit and read with a chicken on my lap. She preened for awhile, settled down, napped a bit, preened some more. I had lots of chicken dandruff on my lap when she hopped down.

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

Weird temp shifts here. The temp climbed during the night staying in the high 40s so I didn't add to the wood stove last night. Now the temp is starting to drop, wind is picking up and it's raining and will turn to snow. We are in the dusting to an inch range.
