My barred rock, Penguin, laid her first egg today! She has been checking out the coop the past month, then the nesting boxes the past two weeks. Last week she started squatting. Today she was very vocal inside the coop. So I checked on her and she was in a nesting box. I checked on her about 5 times, and each time, she would get out and walk up to me to, as if she was telling me that she was about to lay. Then late afternoon, I peeked through the shutters and saw her in the corner of the coop, not in the nesting box, standing straight up like she was going to lay. So I pulled out my phone and started recording. That very minute, she popped out her very first egg! I can't post videos, so I took snapshots from the video.
