oh my gosh! I think I'll stick to the heritage breeds, 45-60 pounds of turkey is too much turkey for this girl

On a different note, Rory is quite enjoying the inside weather

Next time he complains, tell him he's wrong and bring that up for proof. Not that you should need it, hasn't he learned yet that women are always right?
We are in the mnts so we are going to try 6 straw bales with just a few things and see how it goes..... I so hope it works for us! Plus it should keep the dogs out LOL

Sally Sunshine,

Love that coop you built. While I already have plans for my coop, I am going to substitute pallet wood for much of the sheet lumber in the plan. I really like your shutters....think I'll incorporate similar ones into mine.

Is that gravel you have in your run? Looks like 3/4s. Haven't seen that before. Advantages?

Jim
its all I had, I put smaller driveway almost cinders on top then.... it worked AMAZING.... until I stupidly threw some pine shavings in there! I was too lazy to haul to the compost pile in the pouring rain, lesson learned that stuff composted faster than anything I ever seen and turned into an inch of mushy mudd!!! I will be ordering more fine stones from Bashores again come spring.... it was nice always having a clean area to walk! now I cant go in the front run unless frozen!
I just thought you may think the run is in front? run is in back at X..... I have a walk of stones inside the run like this though, lol with those fines ontop.

What kind of plant is that? The chickens don't eat it? I would like to "decorate" my run. I saw a run where a guy had a huge Y shaped tree limb that he fastened to the top and bottom of the run. The chickens were sitting all over it. Some greenery might be nice, too. I mentioned in another post that I bought wild flower seeds to plant around the coop and run. If I am going to work hard to make the coop look nice, I don't want the run to look like some mud puddle.

You don't have probelms with predators and that low fence in the mountains? Here where I am in PA, I am going to have to cover the entire run because of the hawks.
