Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Missy, I would say yes. Roots was worth the drive, even with DH sending me an hour out of my way by taking the turnpike. My own fault as I could have just consulted a map. The trip in general a 'series of unfortunate events' that I won't get into, but the clincher for me was DS decided to be a surely teenager and pout instead of pay attention and help me keep things straight, which I'm happy to say is not the norm for him.

I was overwhelmed and intrigued and can't wait to go back.... if going back is an option? I can't tell if the website is listing the small animal auction as a regular thing.... Does anyone know?

Greendragon is next on my list. Lookout Ephrata!

Blarneyeggs,

Roots has a poultry and small animal auction every Tuesday. Equipment at 3pm and poultry/eggs at 5pm. There were hundreds of peeps about two weeks ago. The auction is in the middle of the day long farmer's market which is also a nice place to shop for produce. Here's another link to the market website:

I haven't been to Greendragon in years. I've heard their livestock sales can go until midnight.

Liliyfish, TY so much for the info. DH loves an auction and I loves my chooks, sounds like date night at the green dragon!! (are we just too sad for words??)

PA Sunset: WELCOME! and LOVE the avatar.

RodriguezPoultry, Guess what??? I will be in Collegville on Friday!! Someone dropped out and I got the spot. I'll bet someone at the class will know where you can get testing done as there are so many certified in Montgomery County. I look forward to meeting youi!

Lilyfish: You are right!! Our weekly Friday night auction at Green Dragon goes until late in the night. Three weeks ago, the auction ended at 1:45am. It was crazy. The more regular sales generally end between 11:30pm and 12:30am.

We start at 6:30pm every Friday.

Just to remind everyone, we will be having our Spring Special/Exotic Bird and Poultry/Small animal Auction on Saturday, May 12th starting at 10am.

The address is 955 North State Street Ephrata, PA 17522 for anyone not familiar with the auction.

Hope many of you guys can make it!!!

I'm going to try to come. I've been wanting to get out there on a Friday night but I would have to leave directly from work to get there at a decent time. And then the drive back home in the wee hours of the morning. Saturday sounds like a much better option. Will it be as big as a usual Friday night auction?

Yeah, the Saturday option seems to be alot more pleasing to others as well.

This will be the 4th year for our Special Spring Auction and it has been growing significantly every year. I would say the quantity is similar. But, the quality of animals is much different. We do get some fancy poultry, cage birds, and pheasants at the weekly sale, but we get a heck of a lot more at the yearly Saturday sale.

At 10am, we will start to sell all the miscellaneous items outside like supplies, feed, cages, wire, hutches, etc. Then, once that's done, we will move inside for the animals.

Wyandotte,

Thanks for the info on Greendragon!

For the regular Friday night small animal auctions at Greendragon do you know what the schedule of sales are? I've got the kids' ballgame practices until 6:30 tomorrow, but am thinking of making a run down there tomorrow. I'm looking primarily for hatching eggs, but don't want to miss them if I get there around 7:30'ish.
