Lilyfish,

The schedule for Green Dragon is that there really is no schedule, haha. We sell in the order of how the animals came in... WITH THE EXCEPTION of cage birds, eggs, and goats/sheep. The eggs and cage birds we kind of mix in as the sale goes. The only thing we have a distinct sale time for are goats, sheep, and calves. We start selling them at 8:00pm.

As far as what kind of eggs we get.... ALOT of brown eggs ( no idea if they are fertile). Also, a ton of green eggs. I know people who have bought the green and they have been fertile, but you never know. We also get specialty eggs like pheasant (golden, silver, ringneck), turkey, and guinea. Bantam-wise, we odten have silkie and sebright eggs, among others.

Hope this helps.

If you are there, just ask for Keith. I'm one of the owners (aside from my Dad and brother Kevin). I'm one of the young guys who brings the animals to the buyers and collect the $$$.

Very cool Keith, I took my son about a month ago especially for the auction, not knowing it wasn't until evening. We walked around the multitude of booths, stuffed ourselves with Gyro and Fry~pie and went home disappointed to not have seen any livestock. I can't wait to get back there now with DH, he loves an auction! (I have bid phobia - really doesn't't matter how much I want something, I can NOT raise my hand , if they were auctioning off my very OWN children, Someone else would be going home with them, because I would stand there dumb struck).

LOL. That's funny.

I understand the phobia. I usually just tell my husband what I want and he bids for me. He loves getting into the action. He gets into it alittle too much sometimes and pays a lot more than what I told him I wanted to spend. He's so sweet- he just wants to get me what I want. Now chickens might be a totally different thing though. He's seems to think I have enough. I might have to raise my hand myself.

I'd let them auction off our five, at this point, I'd be giving people the money to take them away! LOL

The 7 yo decided to come out to the coop while I was showing a friend my chickens.....scared 1/2 of them outside at dusk! I went out at 10 to find 4 of them decided to roost ON the door instead of hop inside!

Well, at least you made the trip worthwhile and stuffed yourself with market food. As for your bid phobia....you aren't alone. It can be a little intimidating if you aren't used to the fast pace of an auctioneer.

Hope you can make it again soon. Maybe tonight? It's gonna be a real nice day.

Hi all! I have 3 goslings that are looking for homes. 1 is a white Sebastopol and the other 2 are Sebastopol/White Chinese cross. The Sebastopol is $50 and the crosses are $25/ea. They are unsexed. I am in Lebanon (Mt. Gretna area), and will not ship. These are sweet goslings that have been raised in my living room for the last 3-4 weeks.
They are EXCELLENT stink bug killers!!! We flick the stink bugs into their kiddie pool brooder in the middle of the living room and poof! no more stink bug!

it was great to meet you too!, fun having a buddy to learn with....I'm glad you made it home safe, that's quite a long day for you.

AND I made it to Green Dragon Auction! We just got home at 11:30, soooooo much fun!! Who knew all the 'real' money was in rabbits? Just kiddin, but they were bringing in some cash, really surprised me.

Thanks! Definitely would prefer to not do 8 hours in a car in one day again...but going to have to for the Lucasville show.

Lil Ropo (bantam Cochin) is hatching her chicks! Woohoo! Glad they all made it to hatch! Hopefully 10 babies sometime tomorrow. Already have one out, a beautiful blue bantam Langshan!
