Had a very productive poultry day today! Had a nice chat w/AuntKat and her adorable daughter & she took 3 dozen of my duck eggs! Woohoo! Went to visit another friend & dropped off the 16 chicks that I hatched/brooded for her. Woohoo!
AND...... I had 3 sebbies hatch overnight!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!


..And off to the York show tomorrow. Hope to see some of you there!

Are you going to the York show? I'll pack one for you. I am calling my processor on Monday and they will both be going ASAP if she's open for business (she shuts down for winter because her shop isn't heated). My first goose egg was fertile, so I know one of them is doing their job.


I am going to pick up my black bantam Cochin pair from Jamie Matts... and to see if I can't get any bantam Cochins or English Orps.

I'm not going. It's over 5 hours for me 1 way. But I may be able to talk Missy into bringing it back with her for me

since we're going to try to meet up in the next week or so to swap out some birds for her & anyone else in her area that wants them. Let me know if this is a possibility please Missy.

Sounds like maybe they headed for better shelter somewhere during the storm. Hopefully they will find their way home. I lock all my waterfowl down at night & let them out each morning (they are all penned separate for breeding purposes) so they have a safe place from predators at night.

I have a pair of toulouse & just hatched 2 babies from gablebabble's eggs. I have 4 more of hers in & 4 of mine but so far mine haven't been fertile. I may be looking for another gander soon if you would like to send 1 my way. The boy I got them from claimed they were a proven pair, but I think he lied. He had another gander there & betting he was the daddy. My different breeds are all getting their own pens very soon. Right now my 2 geese are penned with 7 pekins, but all of the ducks are getting new pens in the next couple weeks & the geese will keep the pen on the hill.

I will need to know before 5:30am! Not that I really want to ride 2.5hrs with that loud mouth SOB in the back of the car... Darn gander anyways. Oh, it will be Beau and his one wing still sticks out some from angel wing. I wrapped them, but he'd pull the wraps off within a few hours and I'd have to go and re-wrap them again.


I just put the following eggs in lock down for a Sunday/Monday hatch:
7 Tolbunt Polish from CrazyPetLady
2 Chocolate Bantam Orps from my own birds
1 MFC from my own birds
11 OE (Ameraucana x Delaware) from my own birds
12 Wheaten Ameraucanas from what's now Heather's birds
31 bantam BBS Orpingtons from Mama2my4

And a lone duckling I am still waiting on from 2 days ago (it's wiggling and trying to internally pip).

This will be my biggest hatch ever. I need to build a new brooder on Sunday. Seriously. It will be 8' x 2' x 2'. I messed up on my 6' x 4' x 2' - I can't reach all the chicks! My arms do not reach 4'... I knew this Sportsman would get me in trouble! LOL!

A couple weeks ago there was a 4-H / ag days at the Franklin Mall Washington Pa. There was an older Man in a wheel chair selling chicks (polish) , I bought 3 and my 2 pullets died from unknown reasons, But if you might know who this was , I want to buy more polish pullets, Thanx for reading

Meet lil Si. I went to TSC today for more duck treats, and he was all by himself. I asked why, and they told me he was the runt of the group, and had also been injured during shipping. So,the kids and I got 6 little banty chicks ( cuz why not spread the love, and we had to buy others or couldn't get him) , and they gave me him to take home and see if I can at least try and take care of him. Hoping you will send him positive healing thoughts and prayers.

There's those beautiful babies!!! I cant get over the personalities! And those GORGEOUS GALGOS! Refer to my last post to see what happened post chat....YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL....THANKS FOR THE EGGS! MY PARENTS WILL BE THRILLED! OH......AND HERE IS RAY'S CAMO CAKE FOR HIS BIRTHDAY!......IT WORKED!!! Now if the camo icing turns out well........
