Remember the EMPTY brooder from yesterday....






after a trip to TSC for the planter that someone else posted, it now looks like this


but in my defense,,,,they are meaties and they were discounted because they are over a week old.......I got 25 meaties that were out growing the little bin, at .70 a piece.......sounded good to me....

Wow!! Heck of a deal! I'd have done that one in a second too!!
Now wonder who would have put up picks of tempting planters???

I would have made the same choice if they'd offered me that deal yesterday! Glad to see you got a great deal on them.


BTW... I don't know if it's just our group of meaties... but the dang things like to peck at each others feathers and we've had to use BluKote on a number of them to discourage it. They aren't crowded, so that isn't an issue, but we check them over pretty frequently. I think the problem was that they grew so fast the feathers didn't keep up and skin showed through. those were the areas they pecked at. Luckily none of them were bad, just some irritated areas.

Went to the poultry show yesterday. I believe I seen a few BYCer's, but wasn't positive enough to go and ask. Kiomey and maybe Missy and the boy whose picture was on here a few weeks ago with the chicken on his shoulder. I can't remember whose son he was. I'm glad I went. Some of the breeds I was thinking of getting from Agway are huge birds by looking at them yesterday. It was a nice show. The artwork with the chicken paintings were nice.

Did you say hi? Was I staring? I know when I first got there, brain was still not functioning and I was trying to remember what everyone said they were wearing...so I prolly stared at people.

We had friends over for dinner....and didn't even think about it till midnight...at which point...bed sounded sooo much better.

That's an awesome deal, I would've done it too! DH yelled at me that one of my stupid chickens was laying in the window box again....it's my lone maran. And her Americaunna roo was watching over her. So i let her lay and then went out and collected 2 eggs..looks like she's up to her tricks again.

My meaties are a bit sparse on feathers as well but no one has gotten picked except my 2 poults.

I have a hen my fiance keeps letting out every morning who then lays in the weeds behind the rose of sharon bush out beside the old garage wall that has collapsed (30+ years of neglect to this house before we moved in & we're slowly trying to get repairs done). Took us 3-4 days to figure out where she was laying & I was out digging rose sprouts when I caught her.
 
I'm functional. I still feel like everything on the left is fuzzy...but that will go away with time. I was telling DH I haven't had a migraine in over a year, and have had 2 this month. I think it's just stress...stress of trying to redo the house so it's really ok to invite guests over, stress of the wedding, stress of all the driving to NJ so many times, and just the day. Yesterday was the 2 yr anniversary of my Dad's passing...and today would've been is 64th birthday.

Thank you for asking...now to figure out how to get one of those broodies..cause I'm betting that my maran will lay OE chicks.
