Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I am wondering how many silkie breeders we have in PA?

I couldn't be sure, but I'm on Craigslist everyday and Silkies are on there everyday. Somebody's breeding them. The lady I use is on here, username Brody's Broodello. She breeds BEAUTIFUL SILKIES that are from Show and Breeding quality birds. I have 2 gorgeous splash from her. But, she is in Cecil County, MD.

I know there are several of us. I was just trying to see if anyone was close to me? April (Brody's) does have beautiful birds!!

I,am in a small borough called Port Vue about 15 miles south east of Pittsburgh across the river from McKeesport.I don't have any chickens yet but I would sure like to try raising them. I Have been reading a lot of books, I have about a1.5 acre all fenced in .I'm trying to gather as much information as I can to present to the borough council .I don't know what the rule are here. I would like to start out with about 4 to 6 hens.I could sure use all the information everyone could offer
Thanks Vince

Vinniemac: I would get a copy of your borough code, we bought ours from our TWP building, read through (tedious, I know) and find out on your own if chickens are permitted. If they are, you're good to go. If they're not... Well now I personally would not try to convince my borough to change their mind. I would get them (no Roos) and live my happy, contented, quiet chicken raising life. IF the borough found out (from my nosey neighbor who has nothing better to do than spy on me n my poor chickens -even though I give her hush money in the form of eggs). Then, I would try to convince my borough to change their mind.

This is a gamble, as you could invest money, time, and your heart into your chooks and then have to get rid of them, but I, personally would rather have them for a short while than not at all.
