Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hello, i am new to chickens but i wanted to find a local veterinarian that will treat chickens before i have an emergency and need one. I am located in Newport, Pennsylvania which is in Central Pennsylvania close to Harrisburg. If anyone is from this area and can reccomend a vet in this area. It does not have to be a vet that will come to your house as i'd be willing to take them to their office if a problem arises. Feel free to private message me or post to this thread. Thanks so much to anyone that can help! Also if anyone is from my area i'd love to make contacts with local chicken owners to contact if i have questions.

Thank you Kristen

My Coop:
4 Buff Cochin Pullets, 9 Blue Cochin Pullets, 1 Black Cochin Pullet

Speaking on the "rooster personalities" I thought the same about my bantam cochins I got when they were 5 day old. Two ended up being boys and one a girl. I was bummed because I was thinking of getting rid of one of the boys but they had better personalities than the girl and the less "pretty" boy even more so than the gorgeous one. But as they matured the friendliness I loved in the boys became pushiness. Instead of coming forward wanting attenton, they began bullying their way out of the pen and demanding attention. My girl turned out to be so docile and wonderful. She will sit on my hand and I can walk all aorund with her. Hope that makes you feel better about your situation :)

I second that!!! My favorite chick was my surprise RIR roo. The first in line every time, on my lap, my shoulder, tolerated my affection, but that was three months ago. Now he's the first in line to bite me if my hands not out of the food dish fast enough, biting my daughter because she still thinks he's her chickie to play with, and not to mention the aggression toward the newbies I'm trying to introduce to the flock. Sadly enough I'm thinking of parting with my Roo Roo before he takes a finger off. Hope you have better luck than me.

I use Dr. Tracey Moussa. She is between Hummelstown and Harrisburg. She is very knowledgeable, and very compassionate. Just look up ABC clinic. If you can't find it I can PM you the info. You can contact us here anytime. My profile has my website listed, and my contact info is on there.

Hi there! I am from the Pocono area - close to Stroudsburg (Monroe County). I just got my chicks about a month ago and I am looking for a vet in the area. Anyone know of a good one? Thank you!

Exciting! I grew up in Reeders and now live in Tunkhannock area. As far as vets, I believe Dr. Balliet in Cherry Valley does farm animals although he is primarily a horse vet....also, have taken a duck to Creature Comforts in Saylorsburg.

hey, going to the swap this coming sunday, fathers day?

I was asking because I work there and someone came in and we were talking. I thought they said that they live on Laurel. Could be wrong:)
