Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Okay, so today is day 18 of my first hatch. So far so good, I think. I just plugged it up filled my water reservoirs, cut up a styrofoam egg carton into 2, 6 piece sections, stuffed them each with a washcloth and filled them with warm water. Put all of my eggs back in and prayed...Literally. I have a crappy still air (that has held steady temps for 18 days, so not soo crappy). Temp has been a consistent 100 at egg level, and 102, 1 inch up, with humidity at 50-55 the whole time. Still waiting to see where my humidity goes after today's additions. Any advice? I could go to the hatching and incubating threads, but I would rather hear from some familiars.

I get to go see other peoples chickens

!!! Blarney, I will be there. Please let me know which days you'll be there. Maybe a chicken swap by then? Cecil County is about 45 min. from me.
As for that fox, trap it. DH won't miss then. I love foxes, just not on my property. No Holds Barred, Right?

The "Poultry Show" is 4pm on Sat, July 21. That is when the judging will be done. After that, birds will be housed for the entire week in the poultry building.

Oh, how lucky I am you popped up on here. I wanted to contact you the other day when I saw you on another thread! Ironic? Do you have any 12+wk Silkie hens for sale? I lost one and have a lonely Silkie. I will pay for quality. I have been looking everywhere in the area, and you are really close to me.
Thanks for the info for the poultry show. I will be there!

I don't submerge them! They're not fish! I've only ever done them in the sink. The kids came in one day to tell me there was blood on one of the birds. We went out and they pointed to her, she was just sitting there. This is one of my less....human loving? Not unfriendly..just standoffish, hens. She wouldn't normally let me pick her up, she lay calmly in my arms. When I got her inside I found that she'd cracked her upper beak. I had to bathe her to make sure that was all that occurred...she lay there and finally fell asleep. Had to warn BF when he came in that there was a chicken asleep in the sink.

I've bathed 3 others and they all did the same thing...just closed their eyes and fell asleep.

Finally got my internet back. Spent a few days cleaning out the shed. Took everything out, went through it, and piled back up again lol. Then I switched internet carriers and went a week without (it was killing me!) So anyways I had alot of catching up to do. My bantam mix chicks ended up being 4 girls and 4 boys. One of the boys is very pretty... whiter than all the rest. I would like to keep him but the other 3 roos are looking for homes.

Oops... almost forgot the excitment we had... We had 2 snakes in our yard. A lil over 4ft each. I had to have DH dispose of them which I felt terrible about. Normally I would choose to relocate but I didn't want to take the chance that they would come back and eat one of my chickens.

plus...don't you have my eggs?
I sure do. IIRC, they're due the 13th. I'll confirm that - not at home right now.

And I blame you for me starting to hatch eggs for myself again.

I had the incubator shut down before I offered to hatch yours. Then I had one of those "well, since it's running anyway, might as well pop some more eggs in" It didn't take much arm twisting, cause I wanted to hatch some salmon faverolles anyway. And a few more marans. and so on....
