Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

It's very hard to keep up with you guys!

Congrats LMP on your new birds and egg! already!!!

Wing- My geese will nibble on everything in the garden, except the tomato plants. We ended up fencing it off last year. They do a great job keeping the dandelions and other weeds out of the yard.

And as far as GOOSE math.... how could anybody resist a face like this????

Here they are. They wont walk through the big chicks legs for the camera, but they look cute here anyways.

The older ones were two weeks old here, and the new chicks about two days? Beulah is on the right and Hortense on the left in the first two pictures and Mavis is the darker chick in the last two.

This picture make me laugh!! It may need a caption!!
It was a very last minute decision, sorry wing!

Managed to win a couple things i bid on. Came home with a dozen Lady Amherst eggs and 4 turkey poults. No i idea what breed turkey though...hope its something neat. They are sooooo cute. Somehow Blarney behaved herself and brought home nothing! Although she did manage to get me turned on to fry pies, yum!
Yeah I may be interetested in going and doing this as well!! Not that I need more birds.. even though I am thinking, I want Langshans instead.. Maybe trade my Orpintons out?!?
supervised swim lessons...
It's like monkey see monkey do..

1 decides to give it a try

the rest decide that it looks like fun...

I am freaking out!

Some one please, help me out here. I have a brooder full of sneezing & raspy breathing chicks. I am not kidding. It started with the older ones that were in with my ducks and now it has spread to almost everyone else. I had two that are gasping like they have something stuck in their throats. They did stop when they fall asleep. One passed since this morning. They have been on Duramycin for 3 days with more spread and no improvement. There is no eye or nose discharge. Just the sneezing and raspiness. Everyone is still eating & drinking and no one is acting cold.

I have NO idea what the heck to do! The chicks range from 5 days to nearly 3wks old. I have 150 chicks at stake - chocolates, Polish tolbunts, my restart of wheaten Ameraucanas, bantam BBS Orps... Plus more chicks in the hatcher that I have no idea what to do with!

I thought, and still think, this started with the chicks that were in the brooder with the messy ducks. Could they have brooder pneumonia and they are passing the bacteria? Or is this something else? I am concerned because of that black cockerel I got that has the clear nasal discharge and the sneeze. I have been VERY careful to wash an disinfect when I work with him. But, he's in with 3 girls and none of them are sick (all in quarantine) So, obviously that's not contagious. I've had them for 2wks and no spread.

Some, please tell me you've dealt with something like this and what you did. OMG, I hope I don't have to cull everyone.
I was going to chime in, but it seems you have a lot of good advise, in my signature I have a link to a vet that has an avian veterinarian that I went to, not sure if she is close to you or not, but they treated my girls very well.
I can't imagine geese know what you want and what you don't want, kind of like chickens in the garden.

Lets just say I'm skeptical until proven wrong.
That reminded me I let my girls out in their makeshift run and I tried to move it around to were i saw more weeds, not realizing I put them over my mums, that started growing back, now eaten!! Ooops

Now THAT is nice

.OMG....Hey, everyone....One of the girls just layed today!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We believe it was from thr BL, it is small & cream colored. SOOOO cool!!!
We only just recieved them Friday, and they are 5 months old, very surprised to see this!
bun.gif
Thought it was a Wyandotte "thing" to take awhile to lay...whatever, I'm not complaining!!!!

When we took it out she started making alot of noise..I don't think she wants to share!

Congrats on the egg! I was noticing the sand you have down, how do you like that? i am using Straw in my coop? so you think the said is better for cleaning? Maybe get like a scooper to clean it out?

The chain attaches to a rope that threads through screw eyes to outside the run. The door is heavy enough that dropping it slams it to latch. Pulling the rope pulls up on the latch so it opens.
Ok, please explain further for me, What is for? Closing the coop to the run? I am going to be cutting my barn wall so I can open it to the run and only have the door, and need the best/easiest way to open and close the door!
Anyone else here have goats?
I just have to laugh at this!! BlarneysEggs has goats that keep escaping from Askaban?!? LOL

Well that was a lot of reading, I skimmed through everything! HAPPY MONDAY ALL!!!
