And finally, Nonalee, my production type brown african! She's become imprinted on me, and cries whenever I leave her in the brooder.She's currently asleep on my lap. I guess goose math is striking
That's so sweet. My BCMs will only eat their mealworms if I hold them too. It's a bit of a pain because the other breeds will grab it before the BCMs can, and then the BCMs will cry out and look at me as if to say "Mmmoooommmm!!! That was mine!" everyone else is fine eating them however I give them treats, but not the BCMs.Sorry- funny story and I had to share.
So, you all know I have babies hatched last week out of the eggs Blarney gave me. My Mille Fleur Cochin banties. Well, we have bonded VERY MUCH, and apparently their meal worm treats taste best when Mommy is holding them. Have them in a baby pool for now, and I lay on the floor frequently to cuddle and play with them. I guess all the barn cleaning and landscaping has caught up to me, because mid treats, I dozed off a bit. Woke to find myself with my face half in the brooding pool, and 4 little fuzzy chicky butts in my face because my babies decided to cuddle me and join me in a nap......ALL 4 NUZZLED UP AND SNOOZING AWAY.
I guess it must sound strange, but it was so cute that they were snuggling me and napping that I was completely warm and fuzzy and overlooked the chicky butt in the face thing. I LOVE MY BABIES!!!!!

I didn't realize you still hadn't captured the escapee. You can try to cut a 10 or 15 ft piece of 3ft high or so chicken wire... place a trail of treats like raisins or meal worms to an area either near a wall or somewhere wide open. Get the little one onto the trail of treats and then have someone holding each end of the wire and use it to either herd it into the pop hole or trap him by surrounding him. Then grab him up and return him to pen.We took Sunny (one of our Tetras) out for some fun today (and to try luring Blaine in). Of course Blaine wanted nothing to do with her...
