. Well...I found Blaine, apparently she met a _____ cat

. If it had been anything else I would think she would have been eaten, or at least part of her. So I buried her beside the other chick (that I brought home just so it didn't die at the store)...Now to get some coffee (maybe a "special" one) and get to work on the coop.
awww Gavin........so sorry to hear this :(

Ok...so now that I apparently have a broody...on my living room couch.....what do I do now?????
Ohhhh!! Guess she liked the comfy accomodations!

I'd get her a plastic bin, fill it with straw, give her some eggs and move her to the floor, preferably in a room with a tile floor since broody poos are no fun!
Then, when you know she isn't sick and can move her back outside you can take bin and all and tuck it into a coop corner and let her finish her sit!

It's either that or break her broody by placing her in a cage with an open bottom that keeps her underside cooled all the time till she snaps out of it.

Edit to add... the 'eggs' can be fake for a while, she may change her attitude once she is back to good health.

Holy crap, how old is he! I know they don't have oils until fully feathered, if they are with mom they are ok since they get her oils... how is she today???

I think they are 10 weeks. The Swedish already have all there feathers, and are oiled. I can tell when they play in the water, it just slides right off of them. I guess Campbell isn't as far along! They are all the same age, IDK. I just am glad I saved him!

wow...the call duck and east indie eggs came today,,,,don't ually get things from ebay that quickly....I am a liitle confused though,,,got lots of extra's..was expecting 6 gray
6 pastel
9 east indies......got

6 gray
6 pastel
11 east indie
and 5 extra marked with either a w or m.....I am thinking maybe white calls but not sure...

That is awesome, you should defiantly get some babies!!!

Has she quit laying eggs and did she pluck a broody patch yet?

She may just be debating on the broody thing... or maybe she just doesn't want you to move her off of her comfy couch so is getting all poofy and growly so you leave her there!

She was hysterical when the cat was running around like a loon earlier...every time the cat would try and get up on the couch...or even come near the couch she'd start getting all loud and clucky.
That is awesome!  I wish I could do that! You can give her some eggs to hatch!!!

LOL Did that already...she's got her towel all tucked in around her.

Even though we haven't had our birds all that long I have come to realize one thing.... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a broody!! They are so adorable and dedicated and really a joy to watch... and funny as can be when they are on eggs.
I would love to have a broody closer to the house just to enjoy watching all of the odd things they do but I'm not sure how Radioman would take to that idea!!

Though he is pretty fond of Gracie, and has been really good with T'pal being in the house for sick bay.... hhhmmmmm....
