I think she's a red sexlink... and a she. Her hackle feathers aren't very pointy. My Amberlinks went through a stage that I thought someone messed up at the hatchery because their combs and wattles were very large and red. Must have been a phase, because they look like pullets now.Sure! This is the best I can do until I go home for the weekend, but also her comb isn't as dark as it is in the picture. It was taken near sunset and that and the way the shadow fell on the comb made it look way darker then it actually is.
She is in the back, behind Cesar, who turned out to be a rooster haha.
If that has leghorn in the background it could definitely be a pullet.Ok, not going back to do quotes.
I want jello shots!
No, I wasn't out doing chicken stuff..that actually sounds fun compared to ripping up carpet that has been down for at least 30 years and had multiple spills on it. The carpet padding had disintegrated in some spots, and melted to the floor in others....there's a (large) hole in the floor that leads nowhere and simply had carpeting put over it. 1/2 the floor is obviously hardwood, and 1/2 the floor is just planks, there's a seam between them that is uneven. There are random staples all over the floor, some of which are so rusted that when I went to pull them, they disintegrated. So now I have little rusty pins in my floor...yeah it was a fun 24 hours. The ducklings are adorable...almost make me want more...specifically scovies. So my duck is finally laying on a regular basis! YAY....but of course now I wonder if the 3 that I thought were also hens are drakes instead...grr...
And the sebrights are laying...anyone wanna incubate them?
Tonight DH and stepson were sitting out back...DH comes running in and wants me to come out (note, we had a power outage...so it's REALLY dark out there) he and stepson had heard and were still hearing yelps from a coyote....running along our property line!!! By the time I went out, it had crossed the road and was in the neihbor's back yard...still entirely too close with my chickens!
I have 5 myself that need homes. Is anybody interested in a kitten, there;s 4 of them that momma kitty has brought out and they are way to friendly to be farm cats

That large red comb is a dead giveaway at ten weeks.

In order of preference: Narragansett, Royal Palm, Slate, Red Bourbon, Bronze.
Our anniversary is June 5th so I thought it would be the perfect gift.
The main purpose of getting them would be for pets/breeding. Under 1 year old and over 8-10 weeks is preferred. They will be housed with my chickens. If anyone local to me has any send me a shout![]()

Quote: I have a TON of ducklings (near Wheeling)

Quote:My cat brought a little garter in for her kittens to play with the other day & I took it out to the coop & tossed it in. My favorite hen gulped it down WHOLE in about a minute & a half. All I could do was stand there & laugh at her playing keep away from the other birds while trying to gulp down this wiggling tail that was dangling from her mouth. I couldn't believe she managed to swallow it entirely & have her crop not explode!!!Speaking of snakes, Dewey found a baby garter and threw in with the ducks and geese. The ducks played with it for a little bit and the geese totally turned their noses up. So, Dewey threw it in with my LF Orps. The girls enjoyed their extra protien!
Oh my! Baby goats/ goats in general are the cutest! The woman I got my chicks from had a few and I almost walked away with one, they are so precious.
I have a chocolate hen & a chocolate pied hen, but everyone runs together & they are covered by a white drake so you could get any color from mine. Thanks SS, but I've checked my eggs, and they're fertile...so if I don't decide on Chocolate Scovies, I'll figure out a way to incubate these.
I need some of each.
