Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I took the kids to kennywood yesterday and didn't get my eggs until the night. It was 90 yesterday. Are the eggs still ok? I usually get them early in the day so this is a first for me.

6 babies so far, broody is a tetra tint, she sat on eggs from tetra tint, red sex link, EE, possibly buff orpington, silver laced Wyandotte, and barred rock. Mr. Green Jeans is the proud papa - EE roo. There are 4 more eggs left unhatched, I believe the one stopped developing - sounds like liquid when I move it around, 3 more possibles....

We also have another broody, hers are due late next week. she sat on eggs I bought. 6 were frizzles (all ended up being infertile

, 6 silkie (I think 1 stopped early) and 2 serama (I think 1 is infertile) so far we've only removed the 6 frizzle. I'm a little worried about this clutch however because she takes longer breaks off the nest than broody #1, although it has been quite warm outside. guess we'll see next week!

I am all for extra roos going into freezer camp. I know they are treated great. I need to replace my slw. Maybe I will get some orpingtons, would like another easter egger, maybe hubby will ok that hehe. Don't want any more pecking order drama. Just want everyone to get along. :)

Where

Question for those of you that compost. I noticed there are maggots in my composter. Is this normal??? This is my first time composting and really don't know what I'm doing at all to be honest. Lol

Hi everyone! Lewisberry, PA. Off 83 S.

Welcome! The map in my signature will tell you where most people are located.

Woohoo! 6 babies!!!!!!

Awesomeness!

Mine lay all day long (I have one I swear waits till 5 pm to lay her egg!) Mine are in a cinderblock garage, so it's always about 20 degrees cooler inside than out, and I often wait till the evening to collect.

It means it's not getting to high temp, therefore slower compost....though your girls will love the added protein!

Thanks! Do you raise chickens too? If so what type?

LMAO now there's a dangerous question around here!
