Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Welcome Cytoranth!

Made it back home just at dusk, whew! Baby Marans MIA again, arrrrgh!

Wingstone, I have never been to a swap either. I've been to both Roots and Green Dragon, liked them both, but know what you mean about talking to the seller and seeing where your bird comes from. Plus, those auctioneers talk so fast! Is it just me?

They have that swap in Northern PA at a TSC, I wonder if we could arrange one at the TSC in Parkesburg? We could bring in the Lancaster County Folks as well as the Chester County. I bet if we put a post on the COOP forum, people would come from Philly too.

I think since the Northern PA folks have already laid the groundwork, it may not be too hard to set up. Getting TSC on board is the thing, It does draw business to the TSC, but I think the concern (and rightly so) is bio security. I believe the Clarion TSC Chicken Stock just made it clear to everyone that the poultry should be sold with the container, keep your chooks with their own poo.

If we plan it far enough ahead, people arrange their own swaps and sales before hand and a lot of the birds don't get much exposure or handling anyway.

Also, the Clarion one had people bring in poultry related items to sell, and a had a raffle. I'm all about a raffle!

Stupid, Stupid Stupid Ducks!!! I had the ducks in a large dog kennel (4x4x4) They apparently didn't like this arrangement...and escaped. Night before last I went out to the field where they'd decided to bed down...to convince them to go back to the safety of their pen...they were having none of it. Yesterday morning..I got up and tramped through the dew in search of said ducks. Found a pile of white feathers....and here and there some more....but no ducks. Eventually 1 lone duck returned. No sign of the 2 black ones...or the other 2 (cause I'm guessing 1 met his maker, or an owl) so last night, the lone duck decided to sleep on top of the clothesline. I grabbed her (god I hope it's a her) and threw her in the chicken coop. No sense keeping her apart from them at this point...as the chickens were flying into the duck pen and the ducks were flying out and intermingling with the chickens anyway...

Missy, so sorry, that is the pits!

Rodriguez, oh yeah, without a doubt, Fuzzy Dishes = No Cuddles

And I just left DH in 1 bedroom condo with 4 kids and 2 grands. I hear he gets to sleep with the 3 year old bed wetter. Yessiree I am living large here with my quiet. Only the hum of the incubator here

Hello, Altoona. I see you have been a member for a while, but only five posts. Get busy! Your input is important!
BTW, where the heck in Altoona can you keep chickens? Apparently I don't know Altoona as well as I thought I did.

Here is what I have kept from my last two hatches. My sweet little buff-laced polish (hatched 7/10), blue silkie from last week's hatch, and a blue silkie from my own breeding (hatched 7/10). And I kept one from the hatch before that, too. Trying hard not to keep them all, lol!! These were the only two to hatch on 7/10, or surely I would have kept more polish!!!

Don't forget I want some Polish. Please think of me when you have 2 trios. Also would be interested in some hatching eggs when you start to get them.

I won't forget. I am hopefully getting more hatching eggs this week.

Speaking of, I am looking for some chicks, hopefully locally.

Bantam Maran
Bantam Olive Eggers
and (depending on my current hatch) Bantam ameraucana

Looking for really good egg color. Anyone have any chicks they are looking to sell?

Mama2my: LOVE your Polish Babies!! I have a whole lotta MF Cochin Babies coming up. Looks like I'm getting some good color on the first two hatched:

But you said you're interested in egg color, and these Banty Cochins won't give you that. There is a swap coming up on August 5th at the Clarion TSC. Isn't that near you? I seem to remember that you live on the 'wrong' side of the state. ; )

GO EAGLES!!!

Thanks! I love that little polish!!!

I am actually looking for bantam Maran, Bantam Olive Eggers and (depending on my current hatch) Bantam ameraucana chicks. (looking for the dark green, dark brown and bright blue eggs). I have 10 MF cochin eggs in the bator, but depending on my hatch, I may be emailing you for some chicks ;)

We live up by State College in the middle of the star. Clarion is about 2 hours for me.
