I messaged the NPIP vet. This is what she had to say:
"
Code:If you need to be NPIP clean to sell hatching eggs out of state, we can make it work for you. It is a lot of work to be on the program, but you get the status of being NPIP clean. That means a lot. If you can santitize your hatching areas, keep the birds separate from other birds (if free range, netting is recommended, but not required), test on time, and follow the rules, you can be on the program. We do have some very small hatcheries on the program already."
So I guess I could do it and free-range...
Who are you quoting here? I wonder if they cover my area? Greg Martin (poultry doc in Lancaster County) told me no free-range with NPIP. But I guess if someone else was doing the NPIP inspection, someone who allows free range....hmmmmm
