She said (on 07/03) "I have a small hatch (10) of lav Araucana chicks that just started hatching. If you're interested they are $8 each. Several of my girl seem to be going broody on me, so not wwure how much in eggs to expect right now. I can see what happens and let you know on those. Let me know if you'd be interested in the chicks when they're ready. Thanks."

Before I go posting everywhere... I must sell my LF Chocolate/Mauve Orp project birds. I have 3 chocolate roos that came from Pampered Poultry last February (these are the large "bantams" that run about 7-8lbs). My 4 girls are 75% English. Two are blue and 2 are black. They must all go together. PM me for more details.

Sounds good soon as I have the cash I'll give you a call. Gavin's toe did end up infected, dispiet my attempts to keep it clean, but he is a boy and loves being outdoors so it was a loosing battle. So now we have to get into the doctor and get meds...and all he wants to do is go back to Briar creek and fish some more

Not sure I would use Tar. Does that stuff ev really dry? I use white paint, or whatever I have available or is on the mistake shelf at the store. I try to avoid dark colors because of heat buildup in the summer.

I didn't really notice too much of a smell after 4 days. Assuming most of the volatiles had bled off at that point.

The heat I was less worried about. The coop is south facing but under heavy tree cover. It doesn't get but an hour or two of sun through the main window even now. and won't really be "full sun" till winter, at which point I'm hoping the black is more of an asset than a hindrance. :)

wow ----he looks nice................is he gonna help keep them all in the yard? When are you moving everyone into the new coop? I imagine you have to keep him separate for awhile.........I am interested in your progress.

The girls are in the new coop. I will move him at night after the girls fall asleep....not quite sure which night ....

The water is a 2liter soda bottle....the tape really doesn't work well better to use rope...pretty easy to do...one thing to remember is to put a pin hole in the bottom of the bottle to let air in as the water is drank....

It is not setting on the dirt,,the bottom is lined with foil, then i turned it upward to trap the potatoes and block the wind that was kicking up.

i do not have AC so cooking outside in summer is a must..and buying a grill would be to normal for me.

Is that a galvanized can? I heard you shouldn't cook in galvanized steel since it releases the zinc which could be poisonous...

I made a bottle holder like what you would put a plant in and hang it, works good,
