You are absolutely right. It is doable bu I don't know if I have the time to put into it. I built my current coops but I'm not completely happy with them. I have enjoyed watching your progress but all he while I kept thinking you should hav scrapped the dresser and just built a coop from scratch. Lol. I am impressed with what I have seen of your project though! Nice job!
Have you looked at some of the pallet coops people have built for very cheap? Just do a search. They are quite nice:)

I actually have a stack of 20 or so pallets up on my hill. I guess I need to look into a bit more. Pallets are freaking hard to tear apart though! Lol...I'm just being lazy now!
Haha yeh they are. Not sure if you have to tear them apart or not. Just do a search on here for pallet coops. I've seen a few people have done and they are impressive.

There's a thread for basque hens under euskal oiloa. I got mine from a really terrific breeder in FL. They were 5 weeks & she was able to tell the sex by leg color and coloring. This breed likes to forage and loves treats. They can be greedy but are very friendly & curious. If you PM me a picture I can ask her to identify him/her. How did you come acquire the egg? May I ask how far you are from Harrisburg?
I bought the egg from juststruttin on here. She is from CA. Very nice lady to work with. Has a lot of breeds. I am about 45 min south of Harrisburg.

This hatch sucked..... I have one healthy chick out of the 6 that went to lock down. I think it was bacteria from the eggs that broke during shipping.... Had to put down my wellsummer because she had a huge mass on her head and mushy chick disease. Ugh. My crele pen I am not sure if it will make it. If it does I am sure it will be a boy. The basque is happy and healthy. Just lonely and loud! I think I am going to put it out with my silkie and the other babies and see if she will adopt him. Otherwise if the crele doesn't make it I will need to find a friend for my basque chick. Done with hatching for a while. This one was rough.

That's awful. Putting little chicks down is always heartbreaking. Hoping at least two of them make it so they have company for you.

Very sorry to hear about your chicks. Let me know how your little basque does, if he/she's unwanted by the others maybe my basques will adopt her? Hopefully the last two hatch will be successful. Good luck!
