So Gavin nearly had a front row seat to a chicken porn this morning. (The girls ran away before Jager or Copper could do their thing) The conversation:
Gavin- What are they doing?
Me- Trying to make chicks.
Gavin- Yes! Go get 'em boys! I want some chicks.
A little while later I notice Gavin's watching Jager and Copper closely. All of the sudden he says, "Come on boys, get with the chick making!"
It took all I had not to burst out laughing...
We were swimming the one day and my 9 year old son asked why the rooster was wrestling the hen. I told him she was the current champion and he was trying to win the belt. Your answer was much better! Lol
Just saying hello! I am in Butler County. We are preparing for our first chickens!
Welcome! Allegheny county here

If it is coons, I can lend you my hand trap. Best coon trap EVER! Maybe in trade, slip me a few fertile silkie eggs in February...hmmmm?
I will let you know about the trap. Last time I just made them a special meal. I was going to ask you if you wanted a silkie or two if I can gather enough eggs for the bator. If not I'm sure I will have a silkie rooster by feb. to get you some eggs. Just let me know!
oh, they'll be back if you have grubs , thats why they're digging holes, we had two babies in the yard a couple of weeks ago, we stood there watching the cute little things, but cute or not, they stink up the place so as of tonight, they don't get a second chance, sss. as for the run, if it moved a log, probably a coon, they're quite strong and if its coons, lock the chickens up nice and tight.
The only reason I'm thinking it s not a coon is bc it had full access to the chickens (the coop door is open to the run in the summer and the hole is small. Not sure a coon could fit in it. The last time a coon got our chickens, it reached in through the chicken wire (before modifications were made) and ripped the heads and feet off of every chciken it got ahold of. I wish I had a camera I could set up :/ I hate the guessing game.
Guess what? It's raining again today. Good thing we are having a lazy day in our pjs anyway. Baking zucchini bread and doing some crafts with the kids. I'm trying not to order more eggs from eBay but I really, really want some. Ugh. 11 years of marriage might end over my hatching addiction! Lol.
