Checking out the new nest box. I put plastic easter eggs in. They decided they should try to eat them.... new roost bars plastic easter eggs to give the girls a "hint" of where to lay there eggs.
I have only one girls laying....I used golf balls...I replace them in the nesting boxes and my girl kicks one out pushes it to the corner of the coop and lays the egg there....go figure....

I just found an egg..... behind the nest box. Ugh..... Then she gets back in the nest box and makes a nest in the shavings and pushes the plastic one in under her chest. REALLY????

okay, so I have one chicken that is laying as of right now. I have nine other ones three of which or 20 week and the others are 16 to 17. my question is, if I start layer feed is it going to affect the younger Birds?

the ages are close enough to laying,,,,,,just my opinion but layer feed is not really needed just feed calcium on the side......I have no choice but to do it this way, i have birds running together from just hatched to 3 years old...

i feed a grower/finisher feed that comes from the local mill and there's a 2 dollar difference if you want layer feed, never checked the label but some of the guys working at the mill tell me the only difference is the added calcium
