Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I have a SLW too and she looks to be about the same size as yours, and she too is a little sweetie!! She is so gentle and loving, my 4 and 8 yr old girls can pick her up and she just hangs out on the arms and shoulders and stuff... great breed, would def get more SLW!!

I would agree! With my red stars they lack personallity and the SLW are fantastic! My 7 yr old daughter adores the wyandottes

I know, I am so excited!!! I am going tomorrow to get 6 silkies off her, and since she is thinning her breeds maybe we can strike a deal on something else... lol

Heather, how old is this lil boy?

And.... look what was stolling through my property this morning... turkeys!! SOOO happy! I haven't seen more than 2 together since we moved in 3 years ago. Sorry so blurry, I took this pic through the screen window!

He was hatched on 5/4/2012. Seeing the wild turkeys must be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awwww!!!!! I am getting really attached to the cochins, too. My problem is I need to weed out some breeds and can't figure out what to keep!

Me too mama!!!!!!!!!!! I am having a heck of a time deciding what to do....................... This is where I am at: I am doing a lacing project with my B/B/S Ameraucauna so they stay, they are my favorite. Then there are so many other breeds that I like, and I want to have an egg flock. With these ladies I will sell table eggs, and if I want to hatch out some EE. So for my project I was going to use Blue Andalusians. That didn't work out because the roosters had red leakage on them. The hens will mask it, but the sons can then have the red leakage. So I am going to use Silver Laced Wyandottes for my project, I like them a LOT. I already have 5 hens, and 2 crosses. I just need a SLW rooster. I want to buy a chick/teen so that I can control his socialization.

My other egg flock members are 1 Black Naked Neck, 1 Blue Marans, 1 Blue Sumatra, 1 Splash Sumatra, 2 Blue Andalusians, 1 Blue Orp, 1 Black Orp, and pretty soon some LF Cochins. Some of these are not even laying yet. I want 15 for my egg flock. That should be enough. The bantam Cochins are my daughters, but she doesn't seem to like them. She likes the bigger chickens??? go figure. So even though I love them, I will probably sell them. I don't want a separate bantam run. That is no longer in my long term plans. My grow out pen is still hovering around 100, every time it empties a little bit more get put in. I am down to 35 adults, not to bad. 3 Roosters, 32 hens, 2 geese, and 2 turkeys.............

Sounds like you have a very good plan!

I am going to work on my buff brahma and my bantam mf cochins. I am going to keep a few silkies and polish in my egg flock. They are all bantams and I am hoping those two breeds can be happy together!

And, I think I am going to put a few ameruacana in the pens since their eggs are easy enough to pick out.....
