I'm thinking and maybe its like that movie Weird Science but, that would be awsome! Having the body and fluff of a silkie with the colors of the roo!

You don't have to segregate them until you're ready to breed them.

Hey All. Well all 5 of my chicks hatched, and only 2 black, so, YAY! I am having trouble downloading the pics on the new computer. The old one was easy, it just did it. My cousin will be over later, I'm gonna give him a go at it. Hmmm...
While we are talking about fall, I read somewhere that you stop cleaning the coop in fall to allow the bedding and poop to build up, that it acts as an insulator or something like that. Do any of you have experience with this? Is it accurate?
One more thing, I have a Serama that only started laying this month, and is already broody. Is that normal, and what do I do to get her up? She won't budge and she's not laying which is terrible because I was going to start collecting her eggs when I came home from the beach, for a hatch.Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

I do deep litter...well..I try to do deep litter in my coop...but my chickens basically make piles in certain spots...and scratch down to the concrete in others...and yes, I do it for the insulation and for the fact that the bottom stuff is basically broken down to compost by the time it goes out to the garden.

I am going to try to do that this winter. This will be our first one with chickens and I am a little nervous!

Thanks Missy and Mama.[IMG] And Mama, you have a young crew and lots of chickens. Well that's two things we have in common, if you lived closer we'd probably be BFF's. LOL. All my friends have the kid part, but not the chickens, they just don't get it. The ties that bind, sigh....
Anywho (yeah I did that on purpose), I just cleaned the coop yesterday, so that'll be it for the year.

This is the wee one. Half the size of the rest and a wee bit of beak issues, but still eats well a lot
