because most of our business is in the meaty end of poultry, we are trying to get to the point that we could pass inspection for a license even though we do not need it at this point....biggest obstacle here is the price of stainless equipment

Your meat bird end would require more testing, there are several SUBPARTS in indentification of NPIP

She does still work in Horticulture. She did a stint with Morris Arboretum for a year or so. Then she did an AmeriCorps contract for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society for a year. Now she's an independant "Fine Gardening" contractor. Plantings, Prunings, basically anything too skilled to leave for your landscape crew. She keeps a couple of local (Swarthmore area) clients, a few on the main line, and a few little old ladies who live near Elkin's Park who she's simply too fond of to leave.

wing these are the testings but its all either swab or blood, just more to do at the lab not at your place.

Hey LC!

Hope all the chickens are well! How are they liking the snow?

If it's white outside, nobody wants to venture out of the coop. The stinkies (our 4 red sex links, Scarlet, Simba, Pelly and Clover) will venture out to get some water and scratch a bit if I tramp/sweep a path for them, but if it's all white, they're all in.

Chatty, Duchess and Oreo (The remaning Langshan trio) will have nothing to do with the snow if at all possible. Occasionaly the Reds will chase them out of the coop for a little while. They scratch around a bit half-heartedly, poke at the pumpkins in the compost pile, then fly back into the coop. (On an unrelated note, Chatty had quit laying for a while, between the lowered light and the stress of moving to the coop, I guess she wanted a break. We finally got a 5th egg again and given the size, I'm pretty sure it's hers.)

The micro-stinks (our 4 easter eggers (named Puff, Cheeks, Olive, and Blondie) and 2 Jersey giants (Biggie Clucks, and Tiny)) are getting along well. We moved them into the coop 3 weeks ago (along with Duchess) and while there was much adjusting and feathers flying, they've managed to survive it without major bloodshed. They're even roosting on the lower bar now! But they've not ventured out of the coop at all since the white stuff came down.

I'll see if I can get a picture up of them later. Too too cute!

How have y'all been?

Mine will not go out in the snow either on their own. My DH finally went down into the chicken yard area and snow blowed some trails for them. They will do the trails, I guess because a little grass is sticking thru the snow on the trails. Who knows, silly chickens!!!

Its all jibber jabber..... and you have a ton of people and friends to help you figure it out! and what we cant tell you NAN can and she is very cool!

what do you see in your future? thats where you start, what subpart needs to be figured out.
