Well, I didn't get any chickens for Christmas, but I did get a Brinsea 20 incubator...will hold 24 eggs. I've never done anything like this before, but I'm trying to figure out what to put in it.......so many choices......I'm making up a wish list of breeds.

LOL! I got myself a Sportsman - over 200 eggs can fit in there! I haven't run out of room in it yet. My brooders are another story, though!

what he said !!
more are always welcome,,,,are you new to chickens or just new here? who are you close to ? do you need any roosters? what breeds you have now and what you looking for in the future.....

you mention leghorn,,,You have any rose comb, I have been looking for some local ones.
I have had my own show chickens since 2008, which is a good part of my life! My sister and I had egg birds when we where about 3-5. I am close to the south west, that's all the more about my location I will give. No! I'd love more chickens, but my parents don't! I have leghorns, buff S.C. and white R.C.

Ohhhhh.... My rose comb whites are Mace and Lumanara (after star wars), and they are really old, so they don't hatch any chicks, but they are some awesome show birds!

Well, today was a good day... until I came home.

Miriam wasn't in the coop. I knew right away. I looked around, and found her body, beheaded, under a bush behind the coop. The work of a raccoon.

I just realized, no more blue eggs, and no more baby easter eggers on easter.

I'm actuall maddest because i don't really like my rooster. He's a little pooper that flogs me occassionally but I keep him around for protection. He didn't protect much obviously.

We think the raccoon walked up the ramp into the coop and took her ou to the bushes and ate her. We were out because Christmas and didn't get home until 10.
Does anyone around your parts hunt the coons for you? With dogs like.

We've never seen a raccoon in our yard. We know they live in the woods by the creek at my neighbors house. We knew they were around, but they never bothered us. Now they bothered us. So it's war. The traps are being set up later.
Ohhh, yay! Hunting with dogs are a good way to get rid of them, though. We hunt with dogs, but I feel we're just to far away to help you, sorry!
