Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

your map is way too small for us bi-focal folk to discern....lol

The yellow portion is Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan, and Union Counties. That is my coverage area, so I can pretty much find anywhere in it, given a street address.

Blarney-----I also enjoy watching contented chickens!

they seem so happy and exploring...............today my SLW relaxed in a leaf pile in the relative warmth of 40ish weather.

Later today I found 3/4 of the gals..........roaming the yard! how did this happen-----and yet they so wanted to get back to their familiar run and just needed to be guided back.................kinda funny and cute all in one!

I actually put Vaseline on their combs and wattles-----those that have them! I just wanted to see if they would let me etc and how it would work out...........did this yesterday as it was nice out.............

I think they kinda liked it!

As you know wyandottes don't have combs we need to worry about..........but my one girl has some serious wattles that get fully dipped into the water when she takes a drink................its amazing they have not gotten any frostbite!

Found a new feed mill today. Called & checked prices & it looks like my feed is gonna run about half what it did from my old mill. They can get everything I want in my special mix (even the layer mash, which the old mill refused to add in & I had to buy separate) if I buy 1000 pounds at a time. Right now, that much will last 2-3 months, but once I start hatching & get the meaties going it will go much faster. During my busy season we go through about 250-300 pounds per week just on birds without adding in my other animals. This new mill is going to save me a ton of $$$.

Did you drive all the way to Biglerville?, I thought you were in Unionville...looks a bit far from here.

Nope they are over in Atglen, was worth the drive...  I try and buy anything local whenever possible

I just hit the Embreeville Mill tonight, love that place, although you take your life in your hands pulling out of there.

I have to admit.... all of the discussions about genetics and dominant/recessive genes and such can sure make my head spin! But I do know that

Gabby (Australorp rooster)

+

Pidgy (barnyard mix hen with fuzzy feet)

=

Flecks.... 18 week old cockrel who is as sweet as his daddy!

I can't wait to see if he stays as sweet a he is gorgeous... may have to hatch a couple more of this mix to see if we get hens like him who lay green eggs or olive eggs.

I hate to do this, but we need the money right now.

I have my goats for sale if anyone is interested.

The top 2 pix are of my 6 month old mini nubian buck. He was a bottle baby & is very loving, loves to snuggle, leads well on a leash & loves to run & romp with my children. Answers to the name of Fudge. He's a spoiled baby.

The other 2 pix are of my nubian/pygmy doe. She is about 9-10 months old & was a little older when we got her so did not get bottle fed. She will also lead on a leash but occasionally pulls. She is a bit more ornery than Fudge. She will run & play with the children as well. She answers to the name Pepper.

I would prefer to see them go as a pair as they are very attached to each other. They should be ready to breed soon & may already have since they are penned together. Please PM me for prices & further details.
