Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

just a thought for all those doing spring hatches....what are you gonna do with all those males (sally)

Hubby does not want the hassle of loading and unloading the equipment, but if you bring your grown out birds to us we will process them for you,, you can stay and watch or leave and come back, up to you...we have not settled on prices yet and even when we do those prices will be negotiable, we like to barter for other things.....

as anyone knows that has processed, it is a 2 part process, they will need to go inside an be cleaned up better,,,this is why i can not quote a price,,,depend on how much of the process you want done..
feed them to the critters lol No seriously the CCL I havent a clue! I pray people want them to cover blue egg layers! who knows!

glad I do not have any bators going,,,,electric is kind of iffy here...

snow is bringing branches down on wires

what is the back up plan for those with bators going???

Oh good lord, don't say that! I am at work with no way of knowing if the power goes out at home. 2 bators running.

Our power did go out for four hours three weeks ago when a tree fell across wires. I had just set eggs. Thankfully our generator kicked in and kept the incubator going like a champ. We had gotten it after hurricanr Sandy left this area powerless for over 8 days in figid temps October 2012. It's been worthits weight in gold. Most people around here have at least a small generator.
I think I would be looking for friends or relatives on a different grid but not sure how to get out and about in this weather, and their power could be out too.
Have a fireplace or woodburner? Wrap the incubator in blankets and place in close proximity.

Thanks, I had read that earlier, I saw it on your posts, too late to isolate her though...her feathers have looked like this for about a month now. Her vent looks like it should, no redness or bloody looking there. All of my chickens have a loose poop a few times a day then the very next one is perfect. Her feathers back there are not wet, it's dried poop only. If it were warmer, I'd soak her & see if I could get it cleaned up. Should I cut the feathers off? I had started giving her yogurt & extra oyster shell when I read that article.
